2015

Honda Aero Makes History in North Carolina
Honda Aero receives production certification from the FAA for its HF120 turbofan jet engine that will power HondaJet. It is the first time in 23 years that the FAA issues a certificate to a new company making jet engines in America.

2014

Honda Opens 8th Auto Plant in Celaya, Mexico
Honda begins production of the Honda Fit, expanding their production capability in North America with the addition of sub-compact vehicles.

2013

Honda Begins Side-by-Side Production in South Carolina
Honda of South Carolina Mfg., Inc. begins production of the Honda Pioneer, the first of a new generation of side-by-side vehicles. The plant is the exclusive global home for Pioneer production using domestic and globally-sourced parts.

2012

Honda Marks 30 Years of U.S. Auto Production
Honda celebrates the 30th anniversary of U.S. auto production with new investment of over $200 million in its Ohio powertrain plants and the mass production launch of an all-new 2013 Honda Accord — which was the first model built in the Marysville Auto Plant in 1982 using domestic and globally-sourced parts.

Acura Design Studio Opens in California
Honda R&D Americas opens its third design studio in California for the research and styling of future Acura production models.

2001

Honda Opens New Auto Plant in “Sweet Home” Alabama
Honda Manufacturing of Alabama begins producing the Odyssey minivan and the V6 engine that powers it in Lincoln, Alabama using domestic and globally-sourced parts. It is the 3rd U.S. Honda auto plant.

1998

Honda Begins Light Truck Production in North America
Honda begins light truck production for the first time when a new second plant at Honda of Canada Mfg. begins production of the 1999 Odyssey minivan.

1998

ATVs Roll Out in South Carolina
Honda of South Carolina Mfg., Inc. began production of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) at a new plant in Timmonsville using domestic and globally-sourced parts.

1990

Honda Builds New Proving Center in California
Honda R&D Americas opens a new California Proving Center in the Mojave Desert, including a 7.5 mile oval test track and other dynamic test courses.

1989

Honda Opens 2nd Auto Plant in Ohio
Honda begins building automobiles at the East Liberty Auto Plant of Honda of America Mfg., using domestic and globally-sourced parts. It’s the company’s second U.S. auto plant. It is the first auto plant in America to use more environmentally responsible waterborne basecoat paint.

1987

Honda Opens Auto Plant in Canada, 2nd in North America
Honda begins building automobiles at Honda of Canada Mfg. in Alliston, Ontario, Canada, the company’s second auto plant in North America.

1985

Powered by Honda
Honda of America Mfg. begins building motorcycle engines at the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio using domestic and globally-sourced parts. Within two years, the plant is building automobile engines and, today, the Anna Plant is the largest Honda engine plant in the world.

1982

Honda Begins Auto Production in America
The first Honda Accord rolls off the assembly line at the new Marysville Auto Plant of Honda of America Mfg. in Maryville, Ohio, making Honda the first Japanese automaker to build cars in America using domestic and globally-sourced parts. Honda now has produced nearly 25 million vehicles in America, including over 10 million Accords.

1979

Made in the USA
Just 20 years after starting sales in America, Honda begins assembly of the CR250M Elsinore motorcycle in Marysville, Ohio, making Honda the first Japanese automaker to manufacture products in America using domestic and globally-sourced parts.
